Parliament to Parliament
The trip included jet skiing from Calais to Dover and was in aid of Sophie Panteney, then just three-years-old, who suffers from Charge, a rare condition which affects her breathing, vision, hearing, and balance. Sophie, who lived in Hinckley, also has a facial palsy on the right side of her face, is unable to blink her right eye and finds swallowing difficult.
The money raised was for an oxygen blood saturation monitor including a five-year parts and service warranty, a trampoline, an adapted car seat, toys, a pushbike, a pushchair, a BUPA consultation, a summer house store, and a holiday to Disneyland Paris for the family.
During the ride, one of the fund-raisers broke an arm in two places and two of the team were left behind in Calais on the return trip.
“Not only was the money raised great but it was so wonderful to know that someone cared about our daughter and our situation and wanted to help us. It also gave us the opportunity to meet a group of truly wonderful, generous, selfless guys with enormous hearts who we could never thank enough,” said Trevor, Kate, Annabelle, and Sophie Panteney.
